Little feet, big beginnings.

Our preschool dance classes for ages 1–4 are a joyful first introduction to music, movement and dance. Designed especially for babies, toddlers and preschoolers, our Parent & Me classes give little ones the confidence to explore, move and learn with their favourite grown-up right beside them.

Through music, imaginative play, simple dance movements and plenty of encouragement, children begin developing coordination, balance, rhythm and confidence — all while having fun.

And there’s no pressure to “get it right”. Some little ones dance from the moment the music starts. Others watch from Mum or Dad’s lap before gradually joining in.

At Dakodas, we let them find their feet in their own time.

Come and enjoy your first class together.

What happens in a preschool dance class?

Lots of music, movement, imagination — and plenty of fun. Our preschool classes are carefully designed around the way little ones naturally learn: through play, repetition, exploration and encouragement.

  • A young toddler girl in a pink tutu and white tights dances and claps in a bright dance room, surrounded by other children and adults.

    Music & Rhythm

Clapping, marching, bouncing and moving to music helps little ones discover rhythm and respond to different sounds.

  • MOVEMENT & COORDINATION

Jumping, stretching, balancing and simple dance movements gently develop coordination, strength and body awareness.

  • Imagination & Play

Scarves, ribbons, stories and playful themes turn each class into a little adventure.

  • Confidence

Children are encouraged to explore at their own pace, helping them become more comfortable in a class environment.

  • Social Skills

Being part of a group introduces listening, taking turns, sharing space and interacting with other little ones.

  • Time together

You’re part of the class too — creating a lovely shared experience while giving your child the reassurance of having you close by.

Why Parents Choose Dakodas

A warm first step into dance

Choosing your little one’s first class can feel like a big decision. You want somewhere they’ll feel safe, happy and encouraged — and somewhere you’ll feel welcome too.

At Dakodas, our preschool classes are designed to make those first experiences of dance positive, playful and full of confidence.

Teachers who understand little ones

Teaching preschoolers is very different from teaching older children. Our teachers know how to keep little minds engaged, how to encourage without pressure, and how to adapt when a child needs a little more time to settle in.

Confidence comes first

There’s no expectation for children to get every movement right or join in straight away. We give them space to watch, explore and participate at their own pace — celebrating every little step along the way.

Learning through play

Music, stories, imagination and movement are all woven into the class, helping children develop important early skills without ever feeling like they’re being “taught”.

A class that can grow with them

Preschool is just the beginning. As children become more confident and independent, they can progress into our Toddler Classes and then into Dakodas’ wider programme of ballet, street dance, acro & gymnastics, musical theatre and performing arts.

A place to belong

For little ones, a familiar teacher and regular class can quickly become a favourite part of the week. And for parents and carers, it’s a lovely opportunity to meet other families while enjoying something special together.

    FAQs

What age are Dakodas preschool classes for?

Our preschool dance classes are designed for little ones aged approximately 1–4 years, with classes tailored to different ages and stages.

    Do parents join in?

Yes. Our Parent & Me preschool classes are designed for a parent or carer to take part alongside their child, helping little ones feel secure while they explore music and movement.

What if my child is shy or doesn’t join in straight away?

Yes. You can book a 2-week trial to experience the class and see whether it feels right for you and your little one.
