Contemporary Dance is a powerful and expressive style that blends fluid movement with emotional storytelling, encouraging students to explore creativity, musicality, and dynamic technique. Rooted in classical ballet but influenced by modern, lyrical, and jazz styles, it helps dancers develop strength, control, and artistry.
At Dakodas, our Contemporary classes are designed to challenge and inspire, offering students a chance to connect deeply with movement while building confidence, core strength, and flexibility. These classes include a structured warm-up, technical floor and centre work, choreography, and guided improvisation—all in a supportive, age-appropriate environment.
Contemporary Dance is ideal when taken alongside Ballet, as the foundation and technique of ballet greatly enhance a dancer’s control and alignment. It also pairs beautifully with our Acro/Gym/Tricks for those who enjoy athletic movement, Sassy Jazz for performance flair, and Tap & Jazz for musical sharpness and rhythmic diversity.
Whether your child is just starting or looking to expand their dance training, Contemporary is an inspiring and essential part of a well-rounded dance education.
